Display pics of people in your database

August 25th, 2010 7 Comments

Hi guys

We’re testing out a little feature that may appear on some accounts where any function enquiry, guestlist, contact form, gallery etc, will not just automatically save the information of the patron in your database, but also present to you within the email their Facebook display pic.

This is useful for a number of reasons:

1) Decreases the chances of fake enquiries

2) You get to see the people filling in your enquiries and as a result can validate a little bit more accurately whether they are of valid age or not.

3) Provides you with a link to their Facebook profile should you want to befriend them or suggest they become fans of your page

Here’s a sample one in our inbox of Damian, one of our founders. Check it out and let us know what you think:

Data added to your database. Pic displayed within confirmation email. Link to Facebook profile given.

    Cool!

I remember hearing about this when starting up. Nice.

Is this going to work for any data capture pages on our site?

    Or just guestlists?

    good job though

      Hi Stacey

The Facebook detection feature will work on any data capture you have on your site. This includes but is not limited to:

      - VIP Galleries
      - Guestlist forms
      - Enquiry forms
      - Contact us forms
      - Any other point of contact

Best part is that in the near future the display pictures from here will actually be synced up with your database in your account as well as the iPad app for live action use on the night/day.

this is most likely for nightclubs who want to see what kind of people their promoters or hosts are bringing.

its such a sad state that we’re in with the industry that venues have to think like this and have a huge culture of actually wanting to knock more people back than let them in.

feels rude, arrogant and just plain out cold. most other cities in the world do not do stuff like this

Ummm, sorry buddy, but have you actually even run a nightclub before?

If you did, you’ll find that there is an issue with just “letting anybody in” that the majority of venue operators will not adhere to.

      Here it is put simply:

Nightclub owners want to make as much cash over the bar as possible. In order to make that cash, they need to have people who spend money at the bar. Mostly, this is guys. Guys always spend big bucks when there are nice looking ladies around. To have nice looking ladies around in a club with limited/restricted capacity, you need to be selective of who gets in and who doesn’t.

Ideally, I think nightclub owners would love to let everybody in so that they can get maximum revenue on the night. But they can’t fit that many in, and that’s where the selection process kicks in and they have to figure out what kind of people they want in their club.

mate i just meant that it sucks to have to think about being barred in certain places when you want to go out for a birthday or whatever it might be

in places like thailand as an example, you can just generally go out in shorts, thongs, whatever, and have a good time with friends without needing to worry about dress codes, how many guys in your group and all that other shit. and i bet they still make their cash as well.

just sayin’, would be nice to have a place with none of that pretentious stuff and just open for people who wanna have a good time

  4. Spot on with this write-up, I truly think this website needs far more consideration. I’ll most likely be once more to read way more, thanks for that info.
